    Also known as comb jellies and closely resembling jellyfish, this distinct phylum represents carnivorous marine plankton.

    Characteristics

    • Translucent and globular

    • Eight bands of small hairs (comb plates) used for locomotion

    • Special glue cells (colloblasts) on tentacles

    • Radial symmetry
